Protect wood from fire: FIRE RETARDANT treatments with vacuum-pressure impregnators
ISVE S.p.A. IMP-VP series machinery represents an advanced solution not only for protecting wood against biological and atmospheric agents, but also for the fire-retardant treatment of wood.
Advanced IMP-VP systems for deep impregnations and certified results.
Our IMP-VP vacuum-pressure systems allow for the uniform and thorough application of flame retardants into wood. The result is a safer, fire-resistant material, ideal for construction solutions, public furnishings, and certified environments.
What are fire retardant products?
Flame retardants are chemical substances designed to slow or prevent the spread of fire in flammable materials. In the case of wood, they are usually water-based mineral salts applied through deep impregnation. These compounds, which can be mineral salts, organophosphorus, or organohalogens, are activated at high temperatures, creating a chemical-physical barrier that limits combustion and smoke generation.
How does our IMP-VP work?
Application via vacuum-pressure autoclave
The vacuum-pressure system used by ISVE S.p.A. allows for uniform and deep penetration of the fire retardant salts into the wood fibers, ensuring an effective and long-lasting treatment.
The cycle includes:
- Initial vacuum: an initial vacuum phase to extract air from the wood cells,
- Filling: a controlled filling with the fireproofing solution,
- Pressure: a pressure phase to force deep absorption of the product,
- Final vacuum: a final vacuum to facilitate dripping, drying of the wood, and setting of the treatment.
This process allows us to obtain wood with certified fireproofing performance, compliant with the regulations required in the public, residential, naval, and railway construction sectors.
Benefits of fireproofing with ISVE IMP-VP
- Deep and uniform treatment in a short time, even on highly impregnable woods such as pine, fir, and beech.
- Compatibility with different types of flame retardants, leaving customers free to choose the product best suited to their needs.
- Safety and sustainability: the fireproofing products used in our systems have a low environmental impact, are non-toxic, and free of heavy metals.
- Reduced maintenance: thanks to the robustness of the materials and the advanced software for managing the fireproofing cycles treatment.
