Impregnation treatment and coating of wood in autoclave using the double vacuum system

People love and appreciate living and working in environments with wood finishing and panelling, they value its warmth and the unique incomparable natural beauty no other material of mineral or synthetic origin has

These qualities are however penalised by a single factor: durability..

As atmospheric and biological agents such as fungi, insects and bacteria attack wood more or less rapidly, the preference has fallen on selecting and using "naturally" resistant wood. The continual demand for these species has considerably reduced its availability and increased the price.
This has led to the need to use less long lasting but much more inexpensive wood, but however applying effective treatment to increase its natural resistance.

Right from the beginning of the last century the first applications of preservative products were attempted using autoclaves and the results were very encouraging.
Today I.S.V.E. Srl, aware of the results that can be reached using this technique, has applied the most recent technology to develop a treatment autoclave that enhances the use of the most modern industrial chemical products for preserving wood.

To preserve and treat does not however mean to destroy the natural characteristics of the wood: the possibility of using water-based impregnants and atomisation of the product in a hermetically closed autoclave means total respect for the environment.

Conservation and respect for the environment are the objectives of the I.S.V.E. Srl. IMP-PG SERIES OF VACUUM IMPREGNATORS.
It is used for the vacuum impregnation of windows-frames, shutters, doors, as well as loose elements, by using a large range of preservatives for the protection against fungoses and insects, to dye and paint first and finishing coats.
The pieces to treat are hanged to a movable frame and put into the autoclave, which after having been hermetically closed, performs the process by an automatic sequence consisting in:

  • a phase of initial vacuum to take away the air from the wood vessels,
  • a further phase for the letting in of the preservative which is nebulized through the nozzles properly placed inside the autoclave in order that the woodworks are completely treated,
  • final phase of re-setting at the atmospherique pressure. 
     

The process may be set in order to obtain a more or less impregnation depth according to the quality requirements.
Generally it is possible to perform 2/3 cycles per hour.
By this plant it is necessary to immobilize very slight preservative (60-70 litres).

The use of the vacuum impregnation allows:

  • a real penetration in depth of the preservative into the wookworks, especially in the head areas of the timber and into the holes or cavaties where it is more necessary the protection.
  • a best fastening of the products over the wooden surface.
  • no noxious pollution.
  • no evaporation of the solvents which compose the preservatives.
  • sensible savings of the preservatives and paints.
